1. Our Commitment & Conformance Goal

Tacos Gavilan is committed to facilitating digital usability and equal access to our website (https://tacosgavilan.com) for all guests, including individuals with visual, auditory, motor, or cognitive disabilities. Tacos Gavilan is working toward Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA conformance and continuously evaluates and improves the website. Because web content, browser technologies, and third-party integrations evolve continuously, we do not represent or warrant that every page or third-party integration is error-free at all times, and we actively welcome guest feedback to resolve any accessibility barriers.

2. Scope & Native Accessibility Measures Implemented

This Accessibility Statement applies to the first-party pages of tacosgavilan.com (including our Homepage, Menu, Fiesta Platter, Locations directory, 15 individual Restaurant Location pages, Blog, Contact page, and Legal pages). Our primary accessibility engineering is built directly into the native HTML, CSS, and JavaScript of the Site:

• Semantic HTML5 Landmarks & Heading Hierarchy: Pages are structured with semantic landmarks (<header>, <nav>, <main id="main-content">, <footer>), a single primary <h1> per page, and a visible "Skip to main content" link for keyboard and screen-reader users.
• Keyboard Navigation, Focus Traps & Mobile Navigation Drawer: Interactive dialogs, modals (Map Modal, Dish Lightbox, Cookie Preference Center, Accessibility Panel), and the Mobile Navigation Drawer (#mobile-navigation) maintain synchronized aria-expanded, aria-controls, and aria-hidden states, trap keyboard Tab/Shift+Tab focus while open, close on the Escape key or outside click, lock background scrolling, and return focus to the triggering button when closed.
• Accessible Forms & Error Announcements: Contact forms use explicit <label for="..."> associations, aria-required="true", field-level aria-invalid states, and live status regions (role="status" aria-live="polite") so screen readers announce validation errors and submission confirmations.
• Touch Target Sizing & Responsive Reflow: Navigation toggles, language switches, close buttons, and primary calls to action are designed with a minimum 44×44px touch target and responsive layouts tested from 320px mobile viewports through desktop screens without horizontal text overflow.
• Accessible Text Alternatives for Maps & Images: Food and restaurant photographs include descriptive alt attributes (while purely decorative icons are marked aria-hidden="true"). Alongside our interactive Google Map, all 15 restaurant addresses, cross-streets, operating hours, telephone links, and ordering links are rendered in accessible static HTML cards.
• No-JavaScript Progressive Enhancement: All legal notices (/privacy/, /terms/, /accessibility/, /privacy-choices/) and core store directory pages render complete, readable HTML content even if JavaScript is disabled in your browser.

3. Optional On-Screen Accessibility Toolbar

As an optional convenience supplement (and never as a substitute for native semantic HTML accessibility), our Site includes a built-in Accessibility Toolbar (accessible via the floating wheelchair icon button or the Alt + A keyboard shortcut) that allows guests to adjust text size, toggle high contrast or grayscale modes, highlight links and keyboard focus outlines, increase letter/line spacing, pause animations, or use browser speech synthesis.

• External Online Ordering Portal (order.online operated by DoorDash, Inc.): When you click "Order Online," you are directed to https://order.online, which is developed and maintained by DoorDash, Inc. If you experience any difficulty using order.online with your assistive technology, you may call any of our 15 restaurants directly using the telephone numbers listed on our Locations Page (/locations/) for personal assistance from our staff.
• Interactive Map Canvas (Google Maps Platform): Embedded interactive map canvases rendered by Google Maps may present keyboard or screen-reader limitations inherent to third-party map widgets. To ensure full access to store information without needing the map canvas, every restaurant's full street address, cross-streets, hours, phone number, and Google Maps directions link are provided in native HTML text cards directly above and alongside the map.
